How it works
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) shows what share of planned production time the machine spends making good parts as fast as possible. It combines three loss groups: downtime (availability), slow running and minor stops (performance), and scrap and rework (quality).
Formula
A = (Tplan − Tdown) / Tplan P = (tideal × Ntotal) / Trun Q = Ngood / Ntotal OEE = A × P × Q
Remove planned breaks and periods with no demand from the planned production time; downtime should contain breakdowns, changeovers and adjustments. The ideal cycle time is the theoretical fastest rate of the machine for one part. An OEE of about 85% is often called world class, while most lines run at 40–60%.
